Christmas Tree Finials

Traditional Christmas tree finials are very ornamental and costly.  Many of the older ones are now considered collectibles.  They are hand made and made of blown glass, with beautiful, bright colors, usually from Germany, Czech Republic and Poland.  There are also finials made out of metal, fabric, and beads that are beautiful on the top of any Christmas tree.  Whatever the theme for your Christmas tree is, whether traditional or non traditional, unique, or over the top, the look will not be complete with out a beautiful Christmas tree finial adorning the top.

A finial is typically a decorative ornament at the top, end or corner of a building or structure.  The finial has been adopted for use in the home as well.  You frequently see finials on top of bed posts, clocks, the ends of curtain rods, tops of lamp shades, the handles of souvenir spoons, and now they are prominently displayed as the topper for beautiful Christmas trees and tabletop displays.

There are many different styles of finials to choose from.  The finial traditionally has many different architectural elements to it.  The base of it can either be open for placement at the end of a rod, or the top of a tree, or flattened so that it can stand on its own as a decorative tabletop display.  The finial is usually several inches, to over a foot high and will have stars, flowers, leaves, balls, or many different visual displays along it’s length, and the top will come to a point, or end with another beautiful architectural element.

Many creators are bringing back styles of finials that we may remember being displayed at our parents or grandparent’s homes years ago.  This retro style Christmas tree finial has brighter, shinier colors, is bigger in size, and brings back warm memories for many people.  They come in any color combination you could want to match your current Christmas décor.  They are also being made out of many different materials.  You will find them made out of polished brass, silver, glass, wood, metal, ceramics or fabric.  Depending on the look you are going for, there are many styles available.

Finials are available to buy at many different retail shops and online retailers and wholesalers.  You can find beautiful, seasonal finials at local department stores, specialty Christmas shops, arts and craft stores, and ceramics shops.  Many stores offer unfinished finials made out of wood, Styrofoam, or ceramic that you can decorate and display your self.  A great kids project for the holidays to use in your own home holiday decorating, or a perfect teachers gift that can be treasured for years to come.
